Everyone makes mistakes. It is something that is ingrained in us from the day we are born. A mistake does not define who we are. It is just a blip on the radar of our entire lives. Some mistakes can be worse than others. One such mistake would be driving while under the influence of alcohol. Here’s what you should do if you are ever involved in a drunk driving accident in Colorado Springs.

You should never leave an accident scene, even if you were driving drunk. It’s bad enough that you were involved in a DUI crash. You can make it a thousand times worse by leaving the scene. Remain at the scene so you can speak with police and even get evaluated for any injuries. You might have to be transported to the hospital, too.

Check on the other people involved in the crash after calling 911. Find out if they are all right or if they need help. You want to show as much compassion as possible following such a tragic accident. Offering your help can go a long way in the aftermath of the crash.

Provide the others involved with your information. This includes your address, contact info, name, insurance information and more. Have them write down the make, model, and color of your car as well as the license plate. They will need all of this information.

Never admit guilt after a DUI crash. Even if you were at fault you do not want to admit it to the other drivers, the police or any other emergency responder.

Have you been involved in a drunk driving accident in Colorado Springs? It’s best to seek legal representation immediately so you can protect your rights and begin a defense of your situation.
