There are some crimes that are alleged to have been committed that jump out at those reading the news. Although many cases reported involve customary facts that pertain to the more frequently reported crimes, there are others that may make an individual scratch their head in determining exactly what crime was committed. In these cases, presenting the right criminal defense in a Colorado courtroom can make all the difference.

In a recent unique case, a man was arrested by police for allegedly drunkenly riding his horse down a Boulder street. Witnesses claim that they saw the man hit the horse and that the man had occasionally steered into traffic. Police were able to stop the 45-year-old man and speak with him when they arrived on scene.

The man claimed that he was riding to Utah to attend a family member’s wedding. He stated that he was riding the horse because he did not have a license. Police have claimed that a search of the man’s backpack revealed a small dog as well as numerous beer cans.

The man now faces animal cruelty and drunk horseback riding charges. Although these charges may appear to be supported based on the unique circumstances of the man’s encounter with Colorado police, nothing has been proved in a court of law at this time. Through the presentation of a criminal defense, both to the strength of the evidence in the case, the defendant may be able to resolve the case in a favorable fashion or, if the facts suggest, may argue for an acquittal before a judge or jury.
