A 19-year-old Colorado Springs man has been arrested after crashing into a patio. Police say that after they arrived on scene, they saw the man try to escape by running into a nearby apartment. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the incident.
Police say that the man was trying to park his Honda Accord and lost control of the vehicle in the process, causing a collision with a parked vehicle. Allegedly, he then drove onto a curb, went over the sidewalk and crashed into the patio of a nearby apartment.
Police say that they saw the man next to his vehicle when they reported to the site of the collision. However, he allegedly ran away as soon as he saw the police. They say that he then ran around a corner and disappeared into another apartment. Authorities arrested the man inside the apartment.
The man has since been charged with multiple crimes, including driving under the influence, careless driving and hit-and-run. Although he has been charged with these crimes, the young man will be entitled to a criminal defense.
No matter what criminal charges a Colorado Springs resident faces in court, he or she has the right to dispute them. With the aid of an experienced criminal defense attorney, an accused person can navigate the criminal proceedings with the goal of reducing the chances of conviction.
People may also choose to pursue a plea bargain agreement, where a reduced sentence is received in exchange for pleading guilty to one or more of the offenses. Your attorney can advise you of your options.
