According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, two motorcyclists who were both allegedly intoxicated crashed into each other. Both are now facing charged in the incident.

Police say that the drivers were in the same lane on South Nevada Ave., at 2:15 a.m., when they collided with each other. Both of the bikers suffered broken bones. According to police, because the motorcyclists were drunk and the accident resulted in serious injuries to both of them, there could be charges filed for vehicular assault.

The Major Accident Unit with the Colorado Springs Police Department investigated the accident well into the morning hours. There was no report on the current status of the bikers’ injuries.

There doesn’t always have to be a motor vehicle involved to have a motorcycle accident occur, although that is often the case. Because both of these drivers were intoxicated, it is possible that each one could go after compensation from the other’s insurance company or the driver personally. Officers may have determined which rider they believe was at fault in the accident. That can help to develop a case against the one that wasn’t at fault. However, if it is learned that both motorcyclists were intoxicated, such a case may not be wise.

If you are suffering because of an accident that was caused by another person’s recklessness or negligence, you may have cause to seek compensation from the at-fault party and his or her insurance company. Even if the other driver is charged with a crime but not convicted, a civil lawsuit for compensation can still proceed.
