Four men have been charged with conspiracy to commit theft of government property from Fort Carson. Two of the men are civilians and two are active duty Army and are stationed at the aforementioned Army post.

The two soldiers, ages 29 and 41, and a former solider, age 34, were all associated with Fort Carson and had access to huge supply garages. Allegedly, these men would take the property to the home of the other suspect, a civilian, age 50, in Colorado Springs. This man would allegedly sell the property on eBay and then split the money among the other three men. According to court documents, in one year’s time, he reportedly paid out $90,000 total to the other men.

Some of the stolen property include body armor, high-tech headsets, a thermal monocular, a laser range finder and a robot worth $190,000. The investigators in the case said that all of the property that was stolen has not been located and there is a possibility that there are more people involved.

These men face federal charges and if convicted, could face a fine of up to $250,000 and a federal prison sentence of up to five years.

When facing federal charges, it’s very important to have legal representation that is familiar and experienced in federal court. It is quite different from state court. It’s also important to start putting a strong defense strategy together. In some cases, a plea bargain may be offered by the prosecution. While this “deal” may seem like the way to go, not all plea bargains are what’s best for a defendant. Your attorney can provide information on defense strategies, plea bargains and much more.
