Colorado Springs Police Department announced early in the morning on Friday, Dec. 29 that the man believed to have been responsible for several convenience store robberies earlier that day had been apprehended.

According to investigators with city’s police department, the man reportedly first tried to rob the Kum and Go convenience store, located along North Carefree Circle. After leaving that store, he allegedly proceeded to visit the 7-11, with a location due south of the previous one on the same road.

After robbing those two stores, he apparently drove over to Palmer Park Boulevard where he attempted to hold up the Diamond Shamrock convenience store. He then reportedly drove over to Barnes Road in an attempt to rob its 7-11, but was unsuccessful in doing so, largely because the store clerk went and hid elsewhere inside the store.

In the case of each robbery attempt, Colorado Springs police note that he entered the stores wearing a mask and carrying a gun in holster affixed to his hip. In each case, the man asked the cashier to turn over all money in the register or safe. The man ultimately made off with a undisclosed amount of cash from all locations except for the last one.

As for how the officers caught the man, they relied upon eyewitness descriptions that they’d received of him and his car. When they finally tracked him down, they were able to identify the gun found in his car as likely being the same one used in the robberies.

If you’ve been accused of a crime such as robbery and then convicted, you’re likely to spend a significant time in jail. In evaluating the evidence that has been accumulated against you, a Colorado Springs criminal defense attorney can advise you of legal options available to you in your case.
